JMG is a career development course with four main goals: leadership development, civic awareness, social awareness and career exploration. You will achieve these goals by participating in community service, fundraising projects, hosting guest speakers and attending field trips. Projects are done inside and outside the classroom. Besides projects, you will also build skills with a curriculum which includes career development, job attainment, job survival, leadership training, self development and personal skills.

Be a Meteor!

Brewer High School JMG students have embraced their Career Development Conference Marketplace theme, “Be a Meteor and Make an Impact,” created by Michelle Sullivan, by making an impact on themselves and their community.

Brewer High School JMG attended the 18th annual Career Development Conference, held on April 28 at the Augusta Civic Center. All of the students’ hard work and effort came to fruition as they brought home a third place trophy in Decision Making, a second place trophy in Presentation Power and two first place trophies in Imagination Station and Group Challenge. Congratulations to all students who participated in this awesome experience! Students definitely made an impact on themselves and their confidence. A very special thank you goes to Dr. Daniel Lee, Superintendent of Brewer & Dedham Schools, for riding the bus with the students and judging events!

On Friday, May 14, students spent the day at Camp CaPella, a local camp for people with disabilities. Students selected Camp CaPella for a $500 Jumpstart Our Youthgrant. Career Association President Desiree McPherson and Vice President Amanda Hill presented Dana Mosher, director of Camp CaPella, with the check. Students thenspent the day doing various service projects including painting picnic tables, installing floats, cutting brush and spreading wood chips. Students left the camp feeling fantastic about the work they accomplished and how they made an impact on a local organization and their future campers.

As the school year comes to an end, BHS JMG would like to extend a huge thank you for all of your support this year!

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2010 & BEST OF LUCK!
