Brewer HS Improvement Plan moves forward

A recent Bangor Daily News article featured the changes coming to Brewer High School with its School Improvement Plan. This past Monday the plan was presented to the School Committee by Principal Bubar and overwhelmingly approved by all members of the school committee. One of the more significant changes at this stage is a move to a modified block schedule for the day instead of the current seven-period schedule.

Presentation on Dangers of Texting While Driving

Representatives from AT&T will be at Brewer High School on Wednesday, December 7th to talk to students about the dangers of texting while driving. All sophomore students will participate with their health classes and students can also sign out of their study halls to attend the presentation.

Athletic Boosters Selling Jackets and Hoodies

Show your Brewer Pride by ordering a nylon/fleece jacket (black) or full-zip hoodie (black or gray) with the Brewer “B” on the left chest.  The jacket is available in unisex sizes M-3XL and the hoodie is available in unisex sizes S-3XL.  The cost of each item is $30 or $35 with your name embroidered on the right chest.  Contact Cheryl Morrow at 478-5327 to place your order or you can fill out an order form in the high school office.  Checks should be payable to Brewer Boosters.  Samples of each item are currently available in the Band Room if you would like to try one on.  Orders will be taken until January 2, 2012 and Christmas delivery is not guaranteed.

Students donate to turkey drive

Mrs. Pelletier’s Technical Math class help “Free the Z” last week by donating 2 1/2 turkeys to the annual Z107.3 food drive held in the Hannaford parking lot right here in Brewer. Good work!

Spanish Two Honors Students Create Videos

Mock Trial Team makes quarter finals

November 11th, 2011

The Brewer HS Mock Trial Team, advised by Ms. Jordan and Mr. Ravan, prevailed over Bucksport this past Thursday to make it to the next round, the quarter finals. They will be competing against Hampden Academy’s Mock Trial team this coming Thursday at the Margaret Chase Smith Building. Good luck!

Empty Bowls Fundraiser this Wednesday

The Empty Bowls Fundraiser will be this Wednesday (11/16) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the high school cafeteria. The soups available will be minestrone, cheesy broccoli, and pumpkin. There will also be student music and artwork. There is a suggested donation of $6 – you will get soup and a bowl! Come support this fundraiser to end hunger! Congratulations new NHS inductees

National Honor Society inducted new members Shelby Colburn, Molly Dalton, Kristin Daigle, Hayley Gulesian, Kelly Hatt, and Deaven Smith at a ceremony Nov. 8, where Officer Rancourt was the guest speaker.  Congratulations to the new NHS members and a special thank you to Officer Rancourt.
