Consent forms were sent home from Brewer High School so that parents and guardians can sign if they want their child to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

With a signed form any student age 16 or older will be able to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

School staff say this will mark a big step towards a return to normalcy.

“Once we have our students vaccinated if a positive case does come into our school, those students who are in the classroom or a close contact, they won’t have to quarantine, they will be able to stay in school and that’s immensely important,” said Brent Slowikowski, Principal of Brewer High School.

“Right now I only see half of my classmates in my grade,” Sarah Kiley, a student, said. “I think it’s going to be good for kids to get vaccinated, to be able to stay in school.”

The clinics will be held during school hours next Monday and Tuesday.

Second shots will be given at the beginning of June.
