We hope that all of our BCS families had a restful and relaxing April vacation. This final stretch of the school year is busy and packed full of activities. Make sure you look over the Important dates listed below and add them to your calendar.
PROGRESS UPDATES
We are halfway through our final trimester of the school year! Mid Trimester Progress Reports went home last Friday, (May 2) for students. Please reach out to your child’s teacher(s) with any questions or concerns.
ASSESSMENTS
Our spring testing window is up and running for grades 3-8. Students in these grade levels will complete both a math and reading test. These are computer based tests that each last about an hour. Students are doing a great job so far! Students in grades 5 and 8 will also be completing a Maine Science Assessment.
END OF YEAR EVENTS
Spring events are in full swing at BCS! Spring sports have begun, we have band and choral concerts planned for later this month, and are happy to be planning many of our traditional end of year events to Celebrate the hard work and success of our students.
FALL 2025 INFORMATION
Please see the attached letter for information as a reminder of our classroom placement process for the upcoming school year. Also, if you have a student who will be in PK or K next year, please call the school so we can add your child to our list!
2025-2026 Classroom Placement
On May 2nd the Civil Rights Club hosted the 1st annual Fun Night! Members collected donations of toiletry items as admission. Grades 5-8 enjoyed dancing, karaoke, rec sports and sno-cones!
Spring Clean-up
Reading Buddies from Mrs. Raymond’s 1st grade and Mrs. Yerxa’s 6th grade classes spent time before vacation cleaning up trash to observe Earth Day. Students enjoyed the time outside collecting trash from around the school, track and playground areas. A wonderful way to celebrate Earth Day!
The Brewer Public Safety Department is hosting the Young Citizens Public Safety Academy again this summer and wants to extend the opportunity to attend to as many students as possible. This academy is held for two weeks, 5th and 6th Grades JULY 28- AUG 1 8AM -3PM and then 10th and 11th Grades AUG 11- AUG 15 8AM -3PM. This provides a wonderful opportunity for students with an interest in Public Safety and the careers encompassed within, to learn more about the individual professions. Students will gain firsthand knowledge in topics like police patrol, fire department operations, corrections, along with many other specialties of each branch of public service. For further details on this incredible opportunity, please see the attached flyer for this year's academy. Please reach out to Officer E. Willey (ewilley@breweredu.org) or Officer R. Freeman (rfreeman@breweredu.org) to apply or with any questions you may have. The Brewer Public Safety Department attempts to reach as many students as possible, unfortunately space is limited each week.
