Earlier this year the Brewer School Department had been selected for a story highlighting its Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) program that puts high school students out into the community to have internships and other programming in local area businesses and industries, including their annual 6-week long experiences, the summer Construction Academy and Forestry Immersion Program.

The episode aired on Maine Public television, and now people can watch the episode in this series, Learning From Maine, here:  Learning From Maine:  the Brewer School Department

Brewer's ELO program is part of a series of innovative programming and policy moves that compliment the great work happening in classrooms every day.  Additionally, Brewer now has a 5-year, 1.2 million dollar Aspire grant that is bringing an increased focus to career awareness and development for all students across the district, grades K through 12.

The Brewer School Department is working hard to make school a place that puts meaning behind the idea of finding a successful pathway for every single student and connecting them all to their community.
