Ambassador Club

Students can be nominated by a teacher to be a BHS ambassador. Students who serve as ambassadors maintain high-grade point averages, are involved in extracurricular activities and are an overall positive influence on the school community.

Art Club

Members explore contemporary arts and crafts after school each week. Activities include clay sculpture, art trading cards, glass holiday ornaments, tile dye work, pop-up cards, and figure drawing. The Art Club also participates in community service projects like Empty Bowls and the K-12 Art Festival.

Brewer Youth Theatre

Students produce several plays each year, including two full-scale musicals and a radio show, as well as competing statewide in the Maine Drama Festival. 

Chess Club

Brewer High School has a competitive team that meets weekly to hone their skills. The team competes in March for the State Championship at the University of Maine.

Civil Rights Team

The CRT works to increase the safety of our students by reducing bias-motivated behaviors and harassment in our schools The student-led team helps students and staff to think and talk about issues related to race and skin color, national origin and ancestry, religion, disabilities, gender (including gender identity and expression), and sexual orientation.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The Brewer High School FCA “Huddle” is an active group that meets weekly for Bible study and prayer. While the mission and vision of FCA center on the athlete, many of our members are not athletes. All students are welcome to attend our “huddle”.

FIRST Robotics

First Robotics Website

The Robotics team is a competitive team that will design, build, and program their robots. Students use problem-solving and organizational skills while working with a team to produce a working robot.

Gender-Sexuality Alliance

This is a student-led organization that works to create a welcoming environment for all students. It is open to all students and allows them to meet, support one another, and talk about current issues.

Health Advisory Board

The Student Health Advisory Board advocates and educates students about important health issues and needs in Brewer High School. Students learn skills in advocacy, character building, leadership, and helping others.

Junior Exhibition

A great Brewer tradition is this annual variety show, which features the talents of members of the junior class in a number of musical performances, skits, and the always memorable chorus lines. The show is performed each March.

Key Club

Key Club

The oldest and largest service program for high school students, Key Club members work on community projects including blood drives, food drives, serving meals at the homeless shelter, Race for the Cure, Relay for Life, and many others. Key Club is sponsored by the Brewer Kiwanis Club.

Mock Trial

Mock Trial gives students the opportunity to try their hand at law. Students play the parts of witnesses and lawyers and compete in actual courtrooms with real Maine judges presiding. Along with acquiring a knowledge of the law, students also hone their public speaking skills.

National Honor Society

Students selected for membership are expected to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Members are to promote leadership, stimulate the desire to render service, and develop character.

Rifle Team

Team members compete in the Pine Tree State Rifle and Pistol Association Junior Postal Program. The season starts in November and ends in March with six matches. Shooting takes place at the Penobscot County Conservation Association Clubhouse.

Se Beowulf

Se Beowulf is an English honors society that sponsors open mic nights, book drives, and other events that raise money for scholarships for Brewer High School students.

Student-Athlete Advisory Council

SAAC is a group of student-athletes selected by coaches to represent each of our athletic programs. The council is designed to promote camaraderie among athletes through thought-provoking discussion and student-led initiatives.

Members of the yearbook staff have the opportunity to work as photographers, journalists, editors, sales representatives, and historians. This is a fast-paced activity where students work independently and cooperatively to create the annual yearbook.

Game Club

Members explore various realms of gaming. Game enthusiasts get together to play tabletop games such as board, card, and role playing games. our gaming community is built through game play, discussion of games, and introduction of new and varied games.

Environmental Club

The Environmental Club meets twice a month to spread environmental awareness to the school community, devise actionable steps toward change, and educate ourselves on the climate crisis. This club is open to all students!
